Summer Colorado Cabin Checklist

5 Tips to Have A Summer-Ready Cabin:

Tip #1: Create A Safe Space

When it comes to your cabin in the summer, safety is key.

Start by making sure those smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors still work. Clean them up and pop in some new batteries to keep them functioning.

After a long winter, we recommend cleaning your gutters and clearing your yard from debris, like dead trees and shrubs. This yard maintenance keeps your land looking great and bolsters its resilience against forest fires.

Tip #2: Rodent & Pest Control

When you open up your cabin for the first time this summer, you might find some unwanted roommates – mice! Mice are common in our Colorado forests and might’ve found a warm place to cozy up in during the winter months. If you find signs of mice (chewed-up cushions, nests, or droppings), we recommend setting up some mouse traps around your home to clear it out over time. For a long-term solution, inspect your home for small gaps and seal them off.

Tip #3: Add Some Color to Your Summer

What we love about hanging baskets and colorful flowers is that they give your space an instant pop of color! We love the cozy and welcoming feeling they give to our homes, inside and out! Now is also the perfect time to plant some wildflower seeds! You’ll get to watch them bloom over the summer. How gratifying!

Tip #4: Watch the Birds

Add some more life to your yard by hanging hummingbird feeders in your yard. You will love waking up to the sight of these adorable birds right out your window!

Tip #5: Give Your Patio Some Love

If you plan on spending time with friends and family during those long summer days, make sure you have the perfect outdoor furniture! We have what you need in-store to create an inviting atmosphere. Our Adirondack chairs are ideal for inviting everyone to relax. We also recommend some beautiful lighting, like decorative lanterns and string lighting.
